Allegri reason Appoints Silva captaincy

MILAN - Massimiliano Allegri and Adriano Galliani confirmed it had consulted with each other to appoint Thiago Silva as a captain in the match against Chievo at the weekend.

As per the tradition in Italy, the armband is usually awarded to players the most appearances for the team. Massimo Ambrosini is the main captain the Rossoneri, but because he was absent at the weekend and the other captain, Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf and Christian Abbiati, well rested, then the highest appearance holder should fall on Alexandre Pato.

However, Allegri instead give the award to a central defender Silva and he asserted had been consulted about this decision.

"I talked with Galliani and seems quite fair to give the armband to Thiago, without due respect to Pato," Allegri said, as quoted by Football-Italy, Tuesday (29/11/2011).

"Together Allegri I had this idea. He had been captain for Brazil so we gave it too here. We do not have much imagination, "Galliani added.
