Tottenham Will Not Sell Pavlychenko

LONDON - Tottenham Hotspur coach Harry Redknapp says the Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko could forget the intention to leave the club in the January transfer window to improve his chances of appearing at Euro 2012.

Pavlyuchenko came off the bench to score the only goal in Spurs' 1-0 win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane on Sunday (12/18/2011). With the victory, this north London club up to third in the Premier League standings.

With Euro 2012 just a matter of months, Pavlyuchenko confirmed he wants to play more often. However, Redknapp Emmanuel Adebayor is preferred and Rafael van der Vaart to fill the front lines of The Lillywhites.

Not only Pavlyuchenko, Redknapp also has Jermain Defoe who are in similar situations, but Redknapp insisted that no one would leave White Hart Lane in January, because the Spurs chasing top four finish and may be a Premier League title challengers.

"Somebody should be unhappy. The player you choose and are not as good as you choose, you can not bear to see it," said Redknapp as reported by AFP on Monday (19/12/2011).

"Pav is a fantastic player, he's got great ability, he's a good finisher. One of the top players, but he's been unlucky," said the uncle of Frank Lampard this.

Redknapp claimed, more choice fell to the van der Vaart, Adebayor and Defoe because they showed a great performance since the start of the season and Pavlyuchenko not start the season well.

"Rafael van der Vaart, Adebayor, and Jermain Defoe are in a great performance. He did not start the season well and while he has to compete with other players for the main venue," he explained.

"It's hard, he's an international player, while the euro soon arrived and of course he wants to play. But it's hard. It's like Defoe, he wants to play .. He wants back in the England squad. It's hard. Someone had to be abandoned," said the former coach of Portsmouth this.

"But I will keep all four of them, I want to keep them all, you need a striker. It is like a central defender, you need to have four or five, then you should not lose one of them," he said.
