Los Blancos recently announced overhaul of the organizational structure of the club and make Mourinho as manager of the new sport. It is not separated from the departure of Jorge Valdano on last May.
President Florentino Perez decided to make some changes in the internal structure of Madrid.
"Real Madrid director, who held a meeting on Thursday, has established a new organizational structure including the general director Jose Angel Sanchez, chairman Manuel Redondo office and Jose Mourinho, who was nominated as the manager of sport," read a statement in Madrid's official website on Saturday (23 / 7 / 2011).
With this new role, Mourinho will have a major influence in deciding the transfer of players. If previously responsible only as a coach, the 'Special One now has the authority on all technical issues at the club.
