Irwin is now 45-year-old left-back known as a tough capable of releasing a good bait as well as an accurate free kick. Without embarrassed himself praised Young's ability.
"I think it is great recruits and I hope he can be a player who is really good for us. He has great ability and a real threat from set piece, something missing in recent years, "said Irwin reported from Goal, Friday (24/06/2011).
"He can play anywhere behind the cutting edge and his pass into the box (penalty) was fantastic. He also has the instinct to score goals and if given a chance he'll contribute a few goals next season, "said Irwin.
Young became the second player who officially recruited Sir Alex Ferguson to strengthen his squad this season. United has managed to outperform the previous Liverpool in bringing young defender Phil Jones to Old Trafford.
"Ashley and Phil is a good purchase and I'm sure they'll both look good. I think there will be a lot of money spent a lot of teams in the last few months and I am not surprised to see us bring some more players, "he said.
